Hi Friends!
I wanted to give you quick access to the books and other tools that I reference often in my talks. I've found myself sending multiple emails to people after a talk wanting to know which book I quoted from, or what book I mentioned in a motivational talk ... so I finally decided it was time to put it all in one place on the website. Yes, I do earn a small commission on any items that you order through these links. And no, I wouldn't recommend something that I didn't personally read and believe in myself. Here's to your success! -Rommel Anacan |
Daring Greatly by Brene BrownIf I had to pick the one most influential book that I read in 2015 it would be Daring Greatly by Brene Brown. I was introduced to Brene Brown's work through my wife, who watched her on Oprah-and I immediately was drawn to her message. However, it wasn't until I read Daring Greatly that I had what Oprah calls the "A-HA Moment!" and everything made sense. Now, it's the book I recommend whenever I work with clients, both corporate and individual and I highly recommend it to you.

The Power of Understanding People by Dave MitchellI first saw Dave Mitchell speak in 2009 I believe and he immediately became one of my favorite speakers. When I knew that I wanted to become a speaker myself, I reached out to Dave and he was very encouraging, helpful and generous with his time and wisdom. While it was a coincidence that both of our companies have the words "Difference" in them-mine is The Relationship Difference and Dave's is The Leadership Difference-we both share a passion of helping people connect with people. Even if you've read many books on communication, people skills, personality types etc. you won't want to miss this one. I assure you, his book is different...and that's a good thing!

Wild at Heart by John EldredgeThis book completely reoriented my views on my faith, on being a man, a father, a husband, and a son. John Eldredge is the director of Ransomed Heart Ministries and this book became a New York Times bestseller and launched Eldredge into national prominence and notoriety. Until I read this book, I had never read anything else that so captured the essence of a man's soul, especially from the perspective of a follower of Jesus. If you're a person of faith, you'll want to read this book.

Winning With People by John MaxwellJohn Maxwell is well known for his books on leadership, so I wanted to highlight this book that is one of my personal favorites from him-Winning With People. I read this book when I was formulating the foundation of The Relationship Difference and his work was hugely instrumental in providing me with the inspiration, encouragement and confirmation that my message was "on point." It's a easy to read book, as all of Maxwell's books are, and yet very, very powerful.

Platform by Michael HyattI can honestly say that reading this book created thousands of dollars of income for me! When I started my business I had no idea how to build a platform ... until I read this book by Michael Hyatt. He took me step by step in how to get noticed in a busy world and while it took some time, the blogs I created based on the advice in his book were the vehicles that helped me get noticed by my first few clients. If you're looking to create your own platform, this book is a great place to start.

How to Be Like Walt by Pat Williams with Jim DenneyWalt Disney is one of my personal heroes. Although I live minutes from Disneyland, I am still enthralled by the Disney magic! I had a speaking engagement in Orlando and I remember spending an evening at the Disney Springs Shopping District at Walt Disney World and I was seriously brought to tears a few times by just being surrounded by the magic! If you want to know about the man, the creator, the artist, the businessman and the visionary behind the mouse, I'd recommend this one.
