Purchase that special “Chocolate Diamond” ring from Jared
Go to Wal-Mart and buy your loved ones a blender or an X-Box
Buy a black cocktail dress at Macy’s during their “After Christmas Pricing” event
Remember that ‘“Every Kiss Begins With Kay”
….the Christmas movies themselves seem to send a different message, don’t they? Christmas in a Hallmark movie is not like Christmas on the “Real Housewives!” It’s not about the luxury car with the bow on it in the driveway, or the size of a ring, or the price of the presents, is it?
So, as you spend your time in the days before Christmas trying to find the perfect gifts for your loved ones I have a couple of suggestions:
One: Just use Amazon Prime (Genius!) and don’t deal with the crowds at the mall.
Two: Remember the most powerful gift you can give someone this Christmas isn’t found under the tree!
So, I challenge all of us to do this one thing between now and the end of the year…before you share you opinion on anything, stop and reflect, “Does what I am about to share, say or do send a message that I care, that you’re important, that I have empathy towards you and your situation?”
If it DOES then do it!!
If it doesn’t, then at least until December 31st, let’s resolve to connect, empathize and understand one another, before we offer our opinion about everything to everyone.
Haven’t we all felt disconnected? Have’t we all felt ignored? Haven’t we all felt disregarded and forgotten? We know how it feels when someone else does this to us, so why not NOT do this to others as one of our gifts this year?
Author John Eldredge once said this, “The greatest impact you will have in your life is found in the quality of relating that you offer.”
So, I hope you find the perfect Christmas gifts for your loved ones … and I also hope that you offer them the gift of your heart, and that you connect, relate, engage and empathize well, this Holiday season.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
