If you are a fan of the National Football League you know that the Pittsburgh Steelers have gotten off to a rougher than expected start. They lost three of their first five games to teams that they were expected to prevail against. They seemed to have lost their "edge" and the identity that has personified Steelers football for years.
Then the Steelers top two running backs went down due to injury and Dwyer was the next man up.
His teammate Ramon Foster, when referring to Dwyer's benching said, “That will make you hungry right there . . . that will make you hungry." Of course we can't know for sure if the experience of being benched had anything to do with his stellar performance when given another opportunity, but I have a feeling it did.
How many times have you been knocked down? How many times have you found yourself on the outside looking in? I know that I have been in those situations many more times then I'd like to remember or admit! Yet, if we look at those situations as opportunities to learn and grow; and as motivation to not mess up the next chance we're given, those times you've been knocked down can be the best things that have ever happened to you.
The secret is in how you look at it...and what you do with it.
Now it's your turn! How have you responded to the knockdowns in your life?
